I need help funding a conference called Get Your Teach On in Orlando, FL. This conference will inspire me to think of more creative ways to deliver my instruction to my amazing students.
My first-grade classroom contains an amazing group of little eager learners. My class includes students with various learning styles and abilities. The students in my room work extremely well together and care about one another.
During our days together, my students are sharing ideas and creating projects collaboratively.
I want to engage all my students in fun and meaningful activities. I believe creating fun and captivating lessons will get more students participating and most importantly, learning! I want them to take risks and love what they are learning and doing.
Our days in the classroom start off with greeting one another and welcoming each other. We share ideas of what we might learn that day and get excited for what is to come. The most rewarding part is when my students come up to me and say they had a lot of and that it was the best day of their lives!
My Project
I am currently into my 23rd year of teaching and I'm always looking for new ways to deliver my instruction in a meaningful way. Over this past summer some of my colleagues I call my 2nd family, attended this conference and couldn't stop talking about how great it was. This inspired me to read a book written by the presenters of this conference called, "The Wild Card."
After reading this book I was completely inspired to change the way of delivering my instruction.
I knew then that I wanted to attend the conference this year. I know that by attending this conference it can help me think about helping my eager, active and curious first graders stay focused and learn in a new variety of ways.
The authors of "The Wild Card" book, Hope and Wade King along with Deanna Jump are presenting a 4-day professional development conference in Orlando, Florida in June to a variety of teachers with new strategies for engagement and creating fun learning experiences. Topics listed at this conference include Around the World with Picture Books, Social Studies, Writers Workshop, Technology and many other fun workshops!
Please consider helping me cover the cost of this amazing conference and opportunity.
