Help me give my students cameras to capture key moments for yearbook club!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
The scholars at my school in New Orleans are inspiring. They thrive in situations where they can display their creativity. They also have a unique experience being that they are in the same city as the top journalism program in the country. Scholars at our school are determined to display leadership, and even requested that this yearbook club is run by them.
The scholars in the school are very resilient.
Some of these scholars go through harsher times than I could imagine going through in my teenage years. Nonetheless, every day they find a way to smile and to truly inspire me. The best way to describe a George Washington Carver Ram is aligned with the school core value of determination, we do whatever it takes to grow. All Rams starve for success and an opportunity to exceed any expectation!
With the materials in the project, I will be able to give the students the opportunity to make an artifact that displays what it means to be a Ram. The cameras are the last step needed to complete the yearbook club. Right now we have the club up and running; we are going over the cover. After that, the bulk of the project will begin, and that is where the cameras will be needed. The scholars who walk the halls are ready to show the world their creativity and this yearbook will be their first opportunity. Our students will be very appreciative if we can make this happen. Thank you!
