Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The first day a child strums a guitar is magical. Their eyes light up and a little smile creeps into the corners of their mouth. Sadly it is hard for us to hold our guitars and stand with no guitar straps.
Our middle school faces many challenges including low economics and being in an urban neighborhood with many social problems.
Despite the problems that are in our neighborhood, our school strives to provide children with an excellent education that includes study in orchestra or guitar. No child asks to be born poor or to live in a tough neighborhood, however, we can give these children a top notch education.
My Project
We are excited to be able to offer guitar. We will not only be learning to play songs that others have written but also to create our own original compositions. An important aspect of creating music is the performance. Without guitar straps we cannot stand and play the guitar for our concerts. We are asking you for straps so that we can give a concert of our original songs.
I have taught instrumental music for 12 years.
It is a beautiful thing to watch a child blossom through musical expression. Giving a child a chance to perform their own music unlocks their creativity and positive self esteem. Please help us perform our new songs with some guitar straps and strap buttons.
