Hello! I run a guitar ensemble program at a school in AZ. I have roughly 25-30 students in my studio, with a wide range of skills and ability. Their age range is 12-14 years old, and it has been such a joy to watch them take to the instrument.
Many of my current students began studying the instrument at the beginning of the year, and I am constantly getting pictures sent to me of them practicing all over campus, even videos of them teaching others which warms my heart.
Most of my students are low income, so while they have talent, passion, and drive, they are lacking the resources to help them realize this potential within themselves. I would be so grateful for anything we receive!
While we may need larger items in the future, like new guitars or amplifiers, we find that we go through the small but necessary items much more frequently. It may seem obvious but it bears mentioning that a student can't learn on an untuned instrument.
The most important supplies we are always in need of are tuners and picks; the gig bags are also very helpful for transporting and protecting the instruments, but without picks and tuners most students can't get off the ground, and we are getting low on those items.
Once we have more tuners and a new supply of picks, we will be able to move much faster in our learning. For now, some students are unable to fully play the instrument due to issues with tuning and a lack of guitar picks. Thank you again!
