Help me give my students a guided reading program. These supplies will ensure that each student has books at their level and a special place to read them.
I teach in the inner city. My kids come from all around the world and all walks of life. My students are migrant, some coming from refugee camps. My students speak dozens of different languages at home.
One thing that holds us together is a love of reading.
My kids want access to books they want to read. My kids want the freedom to choose what to read and the ability to read in a format in which they are comfortable.
My Project
Reading is fundamental to academic achievement. My students and I are working together to make the reading intervention program not only successful, but also fun. I am requesting two leveled text sets for my students to utilize during their guided reading time. This is a brand new project for this district, and my students and I are excited to be on the ground floor. The table is to provide a special place in the classroom that can only be used to guide reading and writing practice. We will work in small groups, designed with specific needs in mind, and focus on specific skills to become better readers.
