My students come from diverse backgrounds. We have neighborhood kids, students bused in from mobile home parks, and students who transfer in from other schools. Regardless of where my students live, they all come to school so excited to learn and be a part of our class family.
Kindergarten sets the foundation for their whole school career.
My goal is to keep them excited about school and develop a lifelong love for learning. I know if my students love to learn they will continue to be successful.
Kindergarten is the foundation for reading and writing skills that our students will need for the rest of their life. These guided reading books will allow me to pull small groups based on their reading level. Each student will have their own copy of the book to follow along, point to the words, and interact with each page read. The students can then take their copy of the book home to read with parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. They will bring their book back to school the next day and place it in their personal book box. Students have access to these books when they are finished with work or practicing reading independently. They love having books on their level where they feel successful in their reading journey.
