Help me give my students the opportunity to be interactive and reflective learners. Grid notebooks will be used as a reference tool and portfolio of learning and discovery for the school year.

There is a sense of community and family through out the halls of the entire school. Community is vital when your zip code inundates the students with questionable labels. However, the students are working to dispel those labels and create a new narrative. These students are honing their critical and logical thinking skills through exploration and maturation (experience)...These students are the new face of STEM.
"They tried to bury us, but they did not know we were seeds." This Mexican Proverb is a great way to describe my students.
The climate of the neighborhood, topped with the lack of resources are ingredients to count my students out. However, my students persevere. Yearly, they are accepted into selective enrollement high schools, participate in various prominent programs, and are recognized for the positive impact they have in their community.
As a new member of a STEM focused school, I am wanting to provide students the opportunity to document the year's learning using grid notebooks. Students usually enter the school year with supplies; paper, folder, pencils, etc. However, how many times do parents and teachers have to assist students to find that ONE sheet of paper that all the notes were written on?
"In life, prepare for the hard and all you will encounter will be the required or easy." Utilizing a grid notebooks will assist in students achieving my four part goal for the year.
Grid notebooks will provide (1) a visual GUIDE in the learning process, (2) a space to REFLECT on lessons and activities, (3) house all lessons and notes for easy INTERACTION and reference, and (4) DISCOVER that lessons are not isolated but are relevant to life outside of school.
By donating to this project, you are not simply providing notebooks, but are ensuring that students have access to an authentic resource they are able to reference beyond the school year.
