Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome to Third Grade! My students are bright English language learners with diverse strengths and challenges. They are enthusiastic, inquisitive and hard-working. Many lack reading fluency and comprehension. These students also face many obstacles outside of the classroom.
I believe that each child is able to learn, grow and succeed.
Yoga, creative movement, multi-sensory techniques and strategies are incorporated into lessons to ensure the success of all learners. Students work hard to gain new skills, strategies and a positive attitude about reading!
My Project
The Fiction and Nonfiction Readers will help my English Language Learners develop essential literacy skills. These readers will be used in a variety of ways to target phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills. Students will also engage in repeated readings to build fluency and develop a sense of pacing, intonation and expression.
Students will be able to participate in personalized lessons and activities in whole group, small group and partner settings.
They will receive direct and explicit instruction targeting individual learning needs and goals that are aligned to the common core standards. Students will also make valuable text-to-self, text-to-text and text-to-world connections with these diverse ranges of topics.
