My students need materials to use during guided reading such as Flip & Read Sight Word Sentences, guided reading strips, comprehension cubes, questioning cards and a cart to keep organized.
We love to learn! These students can't wait to see what school and the world has in store for them and are so enthusiastic about learning! They are highly active and very energetic. They love to be hands-on and communicate with one another.
Our classroom is filled with 24 bright, beautiful, and blooming first graders who have a thirst for learning as much as they can each and every day.
Our classroom is located in Western Pennsylvania.
In our room, it feels comfortable, looks bright, and has constant movement, just the way we like it! It is an environment that welcomes all children and they love being here! I love it, too!
My Project
These materials might be little, but their results are going to be HUGE! All of the materials requested in this project will be used to help students become successful readers through guided reading. We will be using these tools to not only engage the kids, but to reinforce important skills necessary for beginning readers. The star wands and Popsicle sticks with be used as pointers for my rocking readers to point to the words while they read. We will be using the highlighting tape to highlight important words and text. The pencil pouches will store sight words that the first graders are practicing and the pencils will be used when we record important information. I've requested comprehension cube dice and questioning cards to aid in our discussion while reading. Since I will be working with so many readers during my guided reading groups, it is important to stay organized. The mini file folders will be perfect for storing individual student data. The three drawer cart will allow me to organize my materials for my on, above, and below reading levels. Lastly, the star light will allow the other students in my classroom to know if it is okay to interrupt with questions. This is important to help with the flow of instruction during small group time.
Guided reading allows teachers to work with small groups of students and help them become proficient readers.
The tools requested in this project are just what I need to help ensure that my lovely, little learners will achieve success!
