My students need leveled books like National Geographic Readers, Amelia Bedelia Joins the Club, Little Bear and other books to use during our guided reading groups that meet all of their needs and spark their interest.
My school is located in the very rural area of Voluntown, Connecticut. I have a group of incredibly bright first graders, who LOVE learning. They all enter the classroom every day with smiles on their faces and the motivation to start a new day in grade one. This class is a collection of small bodies, vast minds, and HUGE hearts.
I never want my students to lose their love of learning, so I always do my best to keep them interested and make learning as enjoyable for them, as teaching is for me.
Though I have a small group of students, their abilities and skill levels range. They all have different needs and learn in best in different ways. They enjoy literature, and are always excited to dive into new books and challenge themselves as readers. In my time as their teacher, I hope to challenge them, excite them about their academic path and fill their minds with knowledge and skills to make them successful in their futures.

I have a very bright group of students, that truly meet the definition of the individual learner.
In my first grade class I have a range of reading skill levels from late kindergarten to end of second grade.
Each student has a love for learning and shows great interest in reading. The decodable readers that the student have been using are not of interest to them and truly do not allow them to show their reading potential through single stories.
This project includes fiction and nonfiction texts ranging from guided level D-M to meet the needs and interests of all of my students. The students in my class will have more leveled books to meet their needs and master a guided reading level before continuing on to the next. These texts will again, spark their interest and continue their love of learning!
