Guiding Analysis and Critical Thinking in the (Remote) Classroom

Help me give my students the iPad pro so that I can guide them in close readings and analysis of texts. Especially during this Covid-19 school closure, it has become increasingly difficult to deliver remote instruction.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in an urban setting, where a myriad of cultures interact with each other on a daily basis in my classroom. Students at our school are both challenged and enriched with a variety of perspectives to inform their own.

Their curiosity about the world in which they live, their motivation to learn and think critically, and their readiness to engage in thoughtful discussion galvanizes me every day.

I feel fortunate to work with them, and often walk away grateful for the learning opportunities they offer me.

My Project

Students will have continuity of learning as they view instruction from their homes. This tool will enable them to see and find meaning in the texts assigned and to apply the analysis to their own reading and writing assignments. They will see texts annotated live and continue to learn as if they were in a classroom. Furthermore, students learn best through examining models and constructing written responses to texts they interact with. I would use this tool to construct written pieces with my students as part of modeling writing.

These strategies and skills are transferable to both standardized assessments, such as the SAT and college entrance exams.

I forgot to mention, these are invaluable life skills as well.

Thank you for considering funding this project.
