Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teaching first graders is one of the biggest joys a person can ever experience. These little ones have such tender hearts and minds like sponges.
My first graders have found a special place in my heart.
They are so eager to learn and love being in class. They are so kind and generous to those around them.
They have a love of reading and are always looking for a chance to get their hands on a book. Their obsession with science is motivation for me to make learning engaging and fun.
My Project
My students lack the seating and hands-on materials needed for successful guided reading groups. When my students come to me for small groups, we spend the first few minutes bringing chairs over to use. By having chairs already in place, we will no longer waste precious minutes of our reading lesson. Chairs, along with magnetic letters to build and manipulate words, will improve our ability to grow into successful readers. Small group guided reading time is the most important and rigorous time in our day. With your help, we can turn our first graders into lifelong readers and leaders.
