Help me give my students access to more guided reading materials. The Close Reading Early Readers and the First Little Readers Leveled Readers will help me to reach the needs of my students.
My school is a small school in the heart of Cajun country with fewer than 300 students. My school overlooks beautiful Bayou Lafourche just outside the city of Thibodaux, Louisiana.
My students are hard workers who always strive to do their best.
They are from a small, tightly knit community where everyone knows everyone. Students learn together during the day, play together after school, swim and play ball together over the summer, and encourage each other all of the time. I couldn't ask for a more positive, enthusiastic, motivated group!
My Project
As my school's only interventionist, I have one set of below level guided reading books for my students. Because of this, I am not able to expose them to leveled readers as much as I would like to. At this time, I am only able to do one lesson a week with each grade using the books I have. I have to supplement my daily lessons with other things.
By obtaining the First Little Readers Leveled Readers, my students will be able to have more access to on-level instruction using these little books.
The Close Reading Early Readers will also allow me to build early comprehension skills with early grade levels.
