I teach an ESL kindergarten classroom. Our school is a bilingual (Spanish) and ESL school. We are small (about 400 students from kindergarten to 6th grade).
My students are adventurous, excited, and grateful for every new experience!
For example, they are so thankful for the little treasures I purchase for them that they earn for good behavior and by completing their homework on time. They were so excited about our first-day experiment that involved making slime. I know they will appreciate donations from donors choose. I can't wait to get started and see their happy faces when they have materials they've never played with before.
My Project
My classroom needs books for guided reading small groups. Kindergartners are expected to be reading by the end of their kindergarten year. My students will benefit from having more books to read during small groups. Guided reading is where the teacher takes a small group (3-5 students) and has a reading lesson that includes the students reading the book. Typically I introduce the title, we take a picture walk, go over any words that are new to them and that are on each page. I usually read the first page while pointing to the words and then they read the rest of the book while pointing to the words. Thank you in advance for donating to my classroom!
