Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a classroom full of exuberant Kindergartners. They are energetic, fun-loving, and creative. Some of them dance all over the school from standing in the bathroom line to outside on the playground during recess. Others are jokesters who like to tell jokes and pull pranks on their friends. There are also some who love to write, read, act, play, and tell stories.
However, all of them are eager to learn! My goal is to bring them the most engaging and exciting learning experiences possible.
My Project
This project is a continuance of the previous project I had posted and funded. While the beginnings of a guided reading library are great, of course the kiddos need more than five books per level for the library to have a genuine impact on their desire and ability to learn how to read.
Guided reading meets students where they are and helps them to progress individually while growing confident and more able to read texts at their level. By helping us add to our guided reading library and adding some flex seating to the room for my high energy/low focus students, I am more than confident that my students will grow into avid and capable readers!
