My Students

I teach math to some pretty amazing fourth graders. My students come from very diverse cultural backgrounds, and many receive free or reduced-price lunches. I also teach students who are learning English as their second language and students with an individualized education plans with learning goals.

Despite our differences, math unites and pushes my students to think beyond our classroom walls to apply concepts they learn in class to real-world scenarios and problems.

My Project

Students overall mental health and wellbeing within the learning environment at school matters. Students learn best in an environment where they feel supported through positive interactions among teachers and peers. When students act as leaders of positive learning, they are rewarded.

The items I am requested in my project will be used to reward students who help create a positive and healthy learning environment.

When students are rewarded for their hard work, they feel excited about learning. Ultimately, having a growth mindset goes beyond the four walls of a classroom and will hopefully lead to a love of lifetime learning.
