As a part of a Title I campus, my students come from a variety of homes and families. A good portion of our students were also effected by Hurricane Harvey, many losing their belongings and homes. For some, school is the only place they feel safe and happy. Despite the challenges they face outside of school, I try to make my classroom a warm and inviting environment to learn and grow for my students.
I try to instill from the very beginning the sense that we are a family and we must support each other by holding each other accountable, showing compassion, and building each other up - always.
My students are special in this way because they know what it means to take care of one another and how to be caring and compassionate individuals.
My Project
My students learn about growing their minds from the beginning of the school year. It is something that all teachers try to instill in their students daily to teach students about having good character and being kind.
With these books, students will learn what it means to be kind and have good core values of character in their daily lives.
This is something that all teachers, whether we be parents or role models at school, try to instill in the hearts of young lives in order to help our students be more successful individuals.
These books teach students how to cope with difficult situations, how to express themselves, and how to care for others. These skills are critical to growing our future students. These books would make an excellent addition to my classroom library to share with all.
