Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an amazing and dynamic group of third graders.
I teach a wonderful group of third-grade students at a small Title I (low socioeconomic status) school.
This means that many of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Just like any class, my students have a variety of needs.
In third grade students can often become discouraged because the level of rigor in their work is so much higher. This is why we are focusing on growth mindset in our classroom. Having activities and books that focus on this idea will help keep my students on the growth mindset path.
My Project
Having a growth mindset is difficult for most elementary students. Building up the idea of growth mindset is equally as difficult. Having fun and engaging books and activities that the students can use in small groups, with partners, or independently can help them have a better understanding of growth mindset.
Having a growth mindset helps student realize the power of yet.
They may not know or understand yet, but they will. This is what I want to help my students achieve. I want them to be able to look at difficult tasks and understand that when you are struggling, you are learning!
