The materials for this project such as alternative lights: LED lightbulbs and LED light strips and art supplies: colored pencils and markers will be used for our growth mindset curriculum. The goal is to create a comfortable classroom environment where students will learn meditation and calming skills to help with SEL development. The lights would help set the mood in the classroom for quiet reflection. I am also seeking to get the room an oil diffuser to use oils to help with meditation and deep breathing. We are focusing on building our coping skills for when situations are difficult as well as developing a growth mindset for when he need to overcome problems. We will also be using art supplies to color a meditation journal and complete growth mindset activities.
These materials will benefit my students' social and emotional learning.
This is a low-income area so the students do not always have safe and consistent home lives. Creating a safe consistent environment with materials really benefits their well-being as well as academic growth. As well as working on their coping skills will be life long lessons.
