Help me give my students a classroom that is centered around a growth mindset for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year by using engaging posters, STEM activities, and augmented reality to bring the content alive.
Over 90% of our students receive free and reduced lunches and come from low income households where experiences are limited beyond the environment they reside.
They are eager to learn and need exposure to the real world.
Our students are high achievers when given high expectations and are determined to learn. With the Title 1 campus where more than 30% are economically disadvantaged, this allows us to seek the necessary resources to provide access to the curriculum in order to be successful on state assessments as well as in life. When students are given the opportunity to be successful and are taught with love and respect, they reciprocate the feeling by learning.
My Project
These posters and supplies, augmented reality cubes, and hands-on stem activities will be used to teach those subjects our students struggle to understand because of the content being so abstract. More interaction, less teacher talk is the goal!
Using the cubes, students will be able to see the periodic table vocabulary and physics concepts of Newton’s Law come alive in the palm of their hands.
Using the classroom posters to daily motivate them towards the growth mindset and building with the STEM activity sets to bring the content into real-life application will allow our students to see how applicable the content is to real life in order to make connections and develop the growth mindset needed for 21st Century learners.
