Help me give my students the tools to promote a growth mindset, encouraging their natural curiosity and mental well-being, science supplies for hands-on experiments, and math manipulatives, so they can see how math applies to them.
My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
The best learning happens when my students are engaged and having fun, and they love having materials that can help them make connections between text lessons and their own diverse experiences while celebrating their individual success.
With this project, they will be able to engage in literature and stories as diverse as my students are, really helping them to embrace their diversity as a true asset to better this world.
Funding materials like diverse stories, science kits, and binders is a challenge with few funding resources to purchase for each student, but with pandemic restrictions, students cannot share supplies. The kids remain optimistic and resilient as educators have had to redesign every activity to protect their health and safety during these COVID times. Their curiosity is still insatiable! Help me keep them curious and naturally inquisitive about the world around them.
My Project
The students in my class are full of questions, and my philosophy of education is not only that we teach the core standards but that we encourage students to recognize their own successes, help them devise ways to answer their own questions, and encourage them to remain curious in asking about the world around them.
The materials in this project will help satisfy student curiosity and bolster their self-confidence as they use their "growth mindset" journals to track, recognize, and celebrate their hard work and successes, use their science supplies for at-home simple science projects to help the science standards come to life before their eyes, and increase their curiosity with math as they are able to manipulate hands-on math tools at home and in the classroom.
As the students help me to create their own learning and journey progression, access to additional high-quality resources that cater to their inquisitive nature is essential to their growth. The supplies in this project do just that; these materials will help push students through the content standards while encouraging them to remain full of wonder and seek their own answers.
