Imagine not being able to communicate what hurts. Imagine playing alone because you did not know how to ask to join in a game. Imagine not being able to maintain a grip on a crayon to color a picture. My students struggle with these issues and more each and every day.
My students are preschoolers with developmental and language delays.
Some even have physical disabilities that affect how they learn in the classroom. They range in age from 3 to 5. They have been staffed into my EELP class (Early Exceptional Learning Program). This early intervention program is offered by my school district in Florida. We are part of our local elementary school.
My Project
In order to grow, young minds and bodies need to be nurtured. This project includes 1 set of activity filled boxes that help toddlers and young children reach developmental milestones. Each box targets a key area - language, social-emotional skills, cognitive memory and gross & fine motor skills. The materials in these boxes are designed to strengthen muscle control, boost oral language skills, promote social interaction and improve cognitive and readiness skills.
My goal is to prepare my students to achieve in a general education classroom.
In preschool, we lay the foundation for successful learning. These skill building boxes will be yet another tool in my arsenal to help my students grow and succeed!
