This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a teacher in a high poverty area, my students are faced with many challenges in and out of the classroom. Against all the odds, they still continue to want to learn. They come to class with smiles on their faces, eager to grow intellectually. Many of my students are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from having life experiences that many of us see as "typical."

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth.

I may not be able to control their home lives, but I can certainly control their experiences during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

Having access to iPads with cases in the classroom will bring education to life. Having iPads will supply my students with endless access to valuable information such as a dictionary and thesaurus. Interactive technology makes learning more engaging and memorable. Tools such as audio and video recorders can change the way that learning takes place.

Technology is woven into just about every aspect of our lives.

It is how we work, play, learn, communicate, shop, share information, and so on. So the importance of integrating technology in the classroom just makes sense. Technology in the classroom is changing the experience of education. It is changing the way children learn.
