Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students are faced with daily challenges in and outside of the classroom every day. Most have not been able to explore cultures outside of their own. It is my job to provide my students with the highest quality education and give them meaningful experiences and support. I want them to feel safe in my classroom and continue to love learning while experiencing and learning about others' cultures.
I want to be able to read my students books from a variety of cultures including their own, and have open discussions with them.
I want them to see themselves and others in the books they are reading in my classroom. The moment they walk in my door, I want them to feel as comfortable as possible. My focus is to get all my students to become positive, life long learners. I am hoping to inspire all of them.
My Project
My students are amazing and respectful. They are always willing to learn and help one another out. They love to read and learn new things and discuss what they are learning with each other.
These books will help my students learn about cultures from all over the world, and they will get to see themselves in some of the books they are reading.
I want to be able to start conversations with my students, and books are a great way to bring in difficult, but necessary, topics such as prejudice and race. Students will be able to ask questions and learn more through reading.
