Help me give my students diverse books that will prepare them for high school.

Shakespeare wrote, "And though she be but little, she is fierce!" My students are innovators, thinkers, and don't take no for an answer when it comes to pursuing their dreams...and are only in the ninth grade!
My classes consist of 25 - 30 brilliant, hardworking and inspiring young women who constantly fight to make a difference in the STEM field, a once "unattainable" world that is slowly but surely opening up to a more diverse demographic.
Even so, many of my students come from low-income households and have learning disabilities which sometimes makes achieving their goals that much harder.
What I love about my students is the fact that they never let these factors stop them from becoming who they are meant to be: A strong community of young women who have the power to shape the world around them and are never afraid of using their voices.
Now that the spring semester has begun, my 8th graders are one step closer to graduation. In my ELA classroom, I am very intentional about the texts that we read and the themes we explore.
To prepare them for their high school journey, I'd like to end the year with books that are not only engaging and relatable but will also motivate my students to think critically about the world.
I am requesting a few paper copies of these books for my tactile learners as they sometimes struggle when reading online texts. Each of these texts revolves around the central idea of growing up, a topic that is very close to home to my students. We will end our unit with an interactive book review project (via a typed, video or podcast book review). Having a few physical copies on hand will make this project much more accessible for all. I appreciate your help in teaching my girls empathy and preparing them for the real world through literature!
