Help me give my students the chance to become acquainted with the type of technology, such as iPads, that will help them grow as active learners that can, in turn, teach their peers to grow.

I teach eighth-grade low-income students that are looking for new avenues for learning. My students are eager to challenge their minds and their thinking on topics that interest them most. Often times they engage in academic activities due to compliance sake, however, my students often voice their interest in engaging activities they can directly relate with. This is the reason I am looking to incorporate resources that will further expose them to in-the-now situations they can directly connect with.
My students have a hard time building educational resources of their own in their homes due to lack of financial stability.
Their only source to rich learning resources is our classroom which can sometimes be pretty limited. On one occasion I had an eighth-grade student bring in a garbage bag full of books he had gradually taken from our classroom library over the school year. Although impressed, I felt a bit heart-broken that he had not had the rich text to be able to keep in his household.
I believe the sky is the limit for my children as long as they are provided the necessary resources to push them forward!
The materials I am asking funding for my students are iPads and headphones. I am looking for new avenues of teaching for my students and one, in particular, I would like to explore is through learning skit creation. My students have been working on life science projects and often times I understand that children do not always learn their best through adults. I've realized they learn pretty well through their peers and peer engagement. This is where the iPad will come into play.
We would like to create learning skits with the iPads along with having a peer-to-peer dialogue to determine the best process of construction.
I do understand the time of creation will need to take place in school. That is why I believe it is necessary for the students to have headphones so they can edit and revise at their leisure. I've seen my children light up with excitement and understanding once they have seen children at their age engaging in learning clips that I tend to utilize as a model for my lessons during class. Therefore, I know this will be the next stepping stone of growth for my students to connect with their learning!
