I am a teacher at a Title I, fine arts magnet school. My students are from different economics backgrounds. The majority of them are economically disadvantaged. Their home settings range from two-parent to single-parent homes. A majority of my students are of Spanish culture (or descent) or African-American.
My students are innovative, hard working, and most importantly, dreamers.
We focus on student-led education. My students display their eagerness to learn, and most importantly, the character traits that come with persistence and resilience.
My classroom is in need of magnet letters, and dry erase boards and mats. These tools will give my students more opportunity to be hands-on in there phonemic adventure. These tools will also guarantee student engagement and ownership of their learning.
Being at the stage of life when they are visual and Kinesthetic learners, students will definitely thrive with these resources.
Each tool will be used to assess and assist students in their growth as readers. They will also help ensure that they are well prepared for the next grade as well as in the future! Every tool really counts!
