Each day, I am fortunate to greet fifteen unique personalities at the door, eager and ready to embark on a new adventure!
Our class is filled with laughter, collaboration, and learning.
Our classroom is made up of seven and eight-year-old students who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. They are able to come together to share their experiences and perspectives. Their natural curiosities are easily explored through a number of different tools. My students continuously challenge me, allowing me to learn and grow each and every day.
My Project
For many second graders, this is the first year they are ready to read beginning chapter books and begin a series! This is an exciting time because students get to find a series that interests them most, get to know characters' personalities and patterns of behavior. It's a joy to watch students get excited about a certain series and read the books in order!
Chapter book series are needed for these students to continue their reading growth and love for reading.
I love that the students can become friends with the characters in the series they are reading. They can create connections with the characters while strengthening their readings skills and growing confidence in their reading without even noticing it. Students can go on adventures to places they may never get to go, solve mysteries, and so much more!
