BORING! Help me cure the boredom! My students are so eager to read and learn, but many of the guided reading books provided by our curriculum read like this, "The cat ran. The cat sat. The cat is on the mat." My students deserve better! Please help us get sets of guided reading books into our room.
My students are amazing!
Over half of my students speak a language other than English as their primary language. I have students who speak Arabic, Spanish, and even Turkish! They are eager to read, but often times don't have someone at home who can read with them or to them in English. Our classroom needs sets of guided reading books so I can provide instruction at the students' individual reading level. After providing explicit instruction through the use of these books, children can take them home and read to their parents, many of which are trying to provide their child with the "American dream." Help me light up the faces of my kids and their parents and move one step closer to their dreams!
My Project
These sets of guided reading books will allow me to strategically provide reading instruction at the children's individual reading levels. The books will provide students with interesting, authentic reading experiences. The reusable write and wipe pockets will allow students to work with partners in order to build their oral reading fluency.
I absolutely love my job and wouldn't trade it for the world.
