Help me give my students activities to share with their friends and fellow students during our social/emotional group time where we focus not only on bettering ourselves but bettering our larger community.
I teach at a K-5 elementary school. I work with students in grades three, four, and five in small groups for reading and math. Many of the students I work with need extra help with skills. They love opportunities to engage in centers and hands-on activities that allow them to practice and review skills in fun and challenging ways. Sometimes I work with students who need help beyond academics, sometimes this means having a safe place and an adult to talk to.
The kids I work with are incredible students who just want to be able to learn and grow towards their learning goals.
We try to incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, independent work and skill help to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
My Project
The board games listed will help students in small groups to practice social and emotional skills work and cooperate with each other and a teacher. Social skill groups are small groups led by an adult who teaches the kids how to interact appropriately with others their age. They can help kids learn conversational, friendship and problem-solving skills. They can also be useful in teaching kids to control their emotions and understand other people’s perspectives.
Most of these meetings include a chance for kids to role-play or practice social skills and to get feedback.
Paints and canvas' allow us to come up with creative ways to express ourselves and our feelings. Our paintings will help us decorate our school and bring color and joy into the lives of our fellow students.
