Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a new public charter school. Our school promotes hands-on learning and focuses on meeting the needs and encouraging growth for all of our students. Since it is our second year, we have limited resources and are growing our materials.
My classroom has 17 wonderful students.
We are an inclusive class and have a wide range of diversity. We have students who receive services for special education, speech, GT, and ESL. We work hard and focus on learning every day!
My Project
My students need a leveled classroom library. We have very limited resources and a small number of books in the classroom. We do not have a school library to check out books from. My students read daily and need leveled books to help them practice and grow their reading levels. During daily reading they focus on practicing skills and concepts taught in class, work with the teacher in small groups and one-on-one, and write about their reading in their reading notebook. These books will provide us with a classroom library where students can choose from a variety of books on their level to read and enjoy every day!
