My Students
My class is 30 students who come from mostly low-income families and qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Many do not have the access to technology outside of school, which makes technology in the classroom an engaging and interactive alternative to traditional learning.
In order to build the desired community within my classroom, I must meet the needs of all of my students. Meeting their needs serves as a challenge because their abilities are impacted by battling with cognitive disabilities, ADHD, autism, cultural diversity, and more.
My Project
I am asking for more fiction books such as The Lightening Thief, Dog Man, The Wild Robot, Maze Runner, and Wonder (plus so much more!!) Our classroom is full of older, dull looking books. Getting brand new books into the classroom will get the kids more interested in reading!
In order for my students to grow as readers, they need to read, and read, and read some more!
When kids get sucked into a good book, they are hooked on reading. Many of my kids only have access to books at school. This will make a huge difference in the lives of many.
