Our school is located in the country where we have beautiful views and are often visited by turkeys and deer! Our small school of approximately four hundred twenty students and only three teachers per grade level is much like a large, extended family. My class this year is rather large for our school with twenty-six active 7 and 8-year-olds.
My students live in settings ranging from small neighborhoods to rural country family farms.
Most of them enjoy typical country living activities, such as riding 4-wheelers, fishing, and playing outside.
Students often see making mistakes as a bad thing, not a way to grow and learn. My students will greatly benefit from these various books that show how characters are presented with problems and mistakes yet they learned, overcame and grew from them.
I'm requesting a Growth Mindset book set and a Growth Mindset Read Alouds set.
The book "The Dot" is a great example of a young girl who struggles with making art, yet, after some encouragement from her teacher, she is able to expand her thinking and art and is even able to pass this encouragement onto a friend.
I want my students to go from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset and to feel confident enough in themselves to make a mistake, overcome it, and GROW!
