My students need access to stories on their reading level. My project includes leveled books as well as a few literacy center pieces to enhance learning.
Our classroom is a busy, child-centered learning environment. It is stimulating, colorful and comfortable. Our classroom is a community. It is our home away from home.
We share our materials, our discoveries and our experiences.
We function as a whole group, small groups and as individuals. We are cooperative and collaborative. We respect one another and ourselves.
Sometimes our classroom is loud, sometimes our classroom is quiet. Sometimes only I am speaking and everyone is practicing their listening. Often the children are talking to one another and I am facilitating.
Everyday we draw on what we already know and have learned. Everyday there are opportunities for the children to grow intellectually, socially and emotionally. Everyday something fun happens. Everyday is a new beginning!
My Project
Reading is the basis of everything we do in life. I want to provide a sufficient classroom library to my students. This new library will have books at all of their levels and will provide them with opportunities to read about different topics. We need these books to show them that reading can be fun and engaging.This will give each student the chance to read about what they want.
Having more books available in the classroom will help foster a love of reading at a young age.
Being able to provide these resources to my students would help challenge my students to become better readers.
