My Students

Our 5th grade class is a dynamic environment that fosters inquiry-based learning. We believe that all students should have equal opportunities to explore and create rich academic experiences. Our class is a group of 28 fifth graders in Brooklyn, NY. Our classroom is filled with various cultures and life experiences due to students with families from around the world. In turn, empathy and understanding are naturally embedded in our classroom communities. Students are the center of our classroom communities. We encourage them to guide their own learning and become thinkers that question the world around them.

My Project

In our class community, we value technology and the opportunities it provides in enhancing our learning and curiosities. We believe, in 2018, that each child should have access to a computer throughout the entire school day. However, currently my class shares a laptop cart of 30 computers with two other classes.

While we are very fortunate to have just had a project funded for 10 Chromebooks, we still have more to go before we have a Chromebook available for each student in the class throughout the whole day!

The goal of this project is to continue to grow our Chromebook set so that students can use computers as needed, in all content areas, everyday. Unfortunately, we are restricted in the quantity of Chromebooks we are permitted to ask for at this time. We hope to acquire 10 from this project, which will help us reach our goal of having 30 Chromebooks for 30 students!
