My kindergartners come from a low socioeconomic background. Even though this is on their back, they are the most loving and hard working five and six-year-olds. Being a teacher, I don’t have much to give financially, and I want my students to grow and thrive as much as they can. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom.
These students come from tough situations and despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
Being at school from 8:00-3:30 is a long day for anyone... especially little kindergarten bodies who are used to being at home! Snacks help them to stay focused on learning during the school day.
My students need snacks to keep them awake, learning, and growing.
They requested some of their favorites: fruit snacks, animal crackers, and pretzels to keep their bellies filled and their brains fueled for learning. We do a lot of hard work in kindergarten, and having snack time keeps students engaged, motivated, and cared for.
