My students are vibrant, curious, young learners. They come to school excited for what the day will bring. As first graders, they are like sponges soaking in all the new ideas they are given and asking questions when something doesn't make sense to them.
Each day is filled with "ah ha" moments as they try, make mistakes and stretch their brains.
We are teaching them that they can do hard things and be successful. They are learning to be kind friends and excellent students.
Growth Mindset teaches students that making mistakes is a great way to grow our brains. Many of these picture books including Your Fun Elastic Brain, Not Yet, What Do You Do With a Problem, and I Matter provide students with a fun friendly way to understand that mistakes help us learn as we recognize mistakes, make corrections, and master life skills and learning.
We want our higher level readers to be challenged and develop a love of learning and reading.
These chapter books like Pippi Longstocking, Stuart Little, and The Mouse and the Motorcycle, will be used to help enrich the learning of our higher level students as they read and interact with their peers.
