This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of our students come to school with almost no number sense! By the end of the year they will be completing addition and subtraction. They will also complete word problems and understand why they use specific math functions.
The students at our school work hard every day.
The mission of our school is to prepare all of our students with the fundamental academic skills, critical thinking ability, and strength of character to succeed in high school, college, and a career of their choice. We empower all of our students with the education today that will need to change the world tomorrow.
My Project
These materials will be used in our new math curriculum! Rekenrek sets are used to support the natural development of number sense in children. Our students will love the chance to do hands-on math with these math tools. The rekenrek sets will help students who come to school unable to count, learn how to count to 20. They will also help students understand how to add numbers up to 20.
These donations will give students the chance to use hands-on material in our new math curriculum.
Giving students a fundamental understanding of numbers through hands-on learning builds a strong math foundation they will use in the future.
