Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am writing this proposal for the young mathematicians at P.S. 63. We are a small public school yet populated by enthusiastic learners. My students are engaged and excited mathematicians. However, we do not have enough math manipulatives to help them become better at math. We are mostly lacking in hands-on activity materials--especially for students with special needs who require more concrete materials. Lakeshore Learning has great "libraries" of math manipulatives. Their hands-on manipulative libraries make math concepts easier to grasp with hundreds of kid-pleasing objects for students to count, measure, compare and sort. As children explore the huge variety of fun-to-use shapes, they learn to recognize patterns, compare quantities, classify by color, size and shape, and more. Each library consists of six sturdy, 6 1/4-inch-tall plastic jars of manipulative objects, plus six guides. Please help us build a better math station to become the next Einsteins!
