Growing in Reading! Literacy Resources Needed! (Title I)
My students need these reading materials to be used in small and whole group lessons throughout the year. I love that they incorporate cross curricular subjects such as environmental science topics.
I am a second-grade teacher. I have a wonderful group of students! They are constantly impressing me with their hard-working attitude, amazing work ethic, and overall positive outlook on life. I am so proud to be their teacher. They deserve the best education possible.
I teach at a rural, Title I school, serving approximately 300 students.
Every child receives free breakfast and lunch. We are located near a large military base and as a result, serve children of active duty and retired military. Our students are bright and eager to learn new things. They are hard workers and strive to make their world a better place.
My Project
This project is to help my students grow during the guided reading portion of our school day. Having a variety of resources during this time is very important, because a typical classroom will have a large selection of reading levels being represented with their students. Further more, many reading topics will be need to be covered in both fiction and non-fiction texts such as: point of view, author's purpose, main idea, and so forth. I am eager to use all the materials being requested in this project.
All of the materials being requested will benefit my students immensely throughout the school year in reading and writing.
The comprehension kits, close reading materials, graphic organizers, and paired passages will all be wonderfully beneficial to my students. I plan to use these every day in our small group lessons especially. I love that a wide variety of topics will be covered in the readings to help give my students background knowledge in many areas. For example, many science topics such as: weather, life cycles, volcanoes, and other areas are covered. I love when I can incorporate Science and even Social Studies topic into my reading lessons!
