Our students are inspired learners who are always up for new and meaningful learning experiences! They love to explore science concepts in a meaningful and hands on way and regularly take their learning to new levels by sharing it with the greater school community.
We are looking for ways to bring more STEM into our classrooms, creating deeply motivating and engaging experiences for our students.
Our school, as a whole, is exploring project based learning as a deeply engaging instructional delivery system. We hope to provide our students with experiences that will inspire them to think and wonder, and to be driven to seek the answers to their own questions.
My Project
Our Kindergarten students have adopted a raised bed in our school garden. Our wonderful local farmers, have built us our own hoop house to extend our growing season. It is time to start indoor seeds that we will transplant in the spring.
This project will give our students the needed supplies to begin their gardening journey, following a seed from germination to harvest as they take complete ownership of the growing process.
We hope to give them the experience of observing seeds growing in soil and through hydroponics.
As the students care for their garden, personally enjoy and donate the abundance of their harvest to our local food pantry, they will not only master many science and math standards, but will also learn the essential skills of inquiry, observation, responsibility, patience, and community contribution.
