Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the sweetest high school age kids who have realized the mistakes they have made and are working extremely hard to earn their high school diploma in an alternative education setting.
Our school and teachers give them the second chance they so desperately desire.
We have become a family! We challenge them to be the best they can possibly be and achieve their goals in life. We are their cheerleaders and support system. My students are the future and I am the luckiest teacher to be able to spend my life working with them on a daily basis. I have learned from them what is truly important in life. Thank you in advance for considering donating to my amazing students. You are giving from your heart and we are truly appreciative!
My Project
Supporting research shows that when offered healthy food choices like salads with fresh fruits and vegetables, children respond by trying new items, incorporating greater variety into their diets, and increasing their daily intake of fruits and vegetables. Through these early, positive experiences, students are better prepared for a lifetime of healthy eating. We would like to grow a variety of fruit and vegetables in our School Garden. We will be able to use the wonderful tools like the trowels, hand cultivators, rake, watering wand, hose cart and garden gloves to cultivate our edible educational garden. Our students will learn how plants grow, reproduce and yield, along with many nutritional and gardening lessons.
We hope to not only change eating behaviors here at school but also give delicious, healthy fruits and vegetables to those in need in our community.
