Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students love to learn! They love to move and are excited to find out about our world. They are inquisitive and have many interests that continue to push their thinking. As a class, we work on encouraging each other to focus on our strengths which, in turn, builds confidence in all that we do.

About 53% of our students receive a free or reduced-price lunch.

We live in a suburb of Detroit. I have five special education students and others who are below grade level. In our classroom, we learn, laugh, and love!

My Project

Can you imagine having a vegetable growing lab in your classroom as a child? Having the ability to experiment with adaptations and not only determine how plants grow best but also how to manipulate them into adapting into other plants. Students would be in charge of running the grow system, determining how to best keep the plants alive and how to alter them.

Along with the ability to learn about plants and their adaptations, students will get to grow vegetables and learn about the nutritional side of vegetables.

These refill supplies will allow students to continue to try different vegetables, create meals with them, and experience healthy living. This project will allow students to be actual scientists, to develop hypotheses, prototypes, and to try their ideas out. With your donation, you are opening up a whole new world to my students. I can't thank you enough for your generosity!
