This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
CHS is a smaller rural school with around 650 total students. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, but a majority live in low income housing. 100 % of our students receive free lunch and breakfast. My students are also very diverse culturally, and academically. They are not always your typical honors students, but each students has a place in my classroom. Each day they come to the Agriculture classroom excited to see what project they will be working on today. Whether it is working in our shop, greenhouse, garden, or caring for our animals.
My Project
I am requesting a Grow Wall Vertical Hydroponics system for our Agricultural Education courses. This new piece of technology would help the students from a rural, low-income area to explore an alternate method of crop production. In the past we have been limited to only planting in our outside garden and that that can be limited based on the weather. But with the Grow Wall vertical hydroponic system the students would be able to conduct experiments inside the classroom. So even when it is too cold or hot to take the class outside to work on horticulture projects inside the classroom.
