Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My wonderful, enthusiastic first graders have the most incredible thirst for learning and want to learn about so many different topics, but many are struggling readers. This could be the year that they become exposed to all sorts of different topics in ways that make them excited to keep learning!
My first graders are happy, excited, and friendly.
They are just beginning to develop their love of reading and to build their confidence in their reading abilities. Many of my students come from homes without access to basic school materials, let alone a wide variety of books, and they love the opportunities to read that they get in my classroom.
My Project
Some of my students are still just beginning to learn how to read, and some already have strong reading skills and need to continue to be challenged. Having a library of nonfiction books across so many levels will really help them continue to build their reading skills. Many of them think that nonfiction books are boring or are too hard, and I would love to help them build their confidence and their abilities with engaging and inspiring nonfiction texts.
By making a generous donation toward building our classroom library, you can help change my students' lives.
You can help expose them to interesting topics that some may have never encountered and help them feel motivated and successful at reading!
