My Students
My school is a wonderful place to learn and teach. Many of my students are bright and creative while some struggle with learning, but have compassionate, curious minds. Our school is all about exploring the world and galaxy around us as well as becoming innovators and problem solvers. Our students see learning as actively partaking in expeditions.
While our school's theme is all about curiosity and problem solving, our philosophy is about kindness and watching out for one another while holding yourself to positive, wholesome expectations.
I am excited to start year two working at this school and with its amazing students, teachers, and administration. We are trying very hard to prepare our students to be intelligent and caring future leaders.
My Project
This year, we once again have a collection of diverse and curious first graders. I have been working hard at weeding books from our library that are falling apart and are no longer relevant. Our district is struggling financially so I know I will not receive a library budget for this academic year, so I am relying on donations to bring in relevant, interesting, and diverse books.
Bringing in books that pique young peoples' interests help them become more empathetic and kind as well as life-long readers!
This is crucial because after working in a high school for 24 years, I saw quite a few young people who were turned off from reading. As many of us know, reading is a healthy escape and feeds our minds with wonder. It also prepares us for the real world so that we can think critically for ourselves. As the school's librarian, connecting students to well-written and meaningful books is of the utmost importance.
I hope this collection of books will bring my students wonder and enjoyment while exciting them about the endless possibilities that come with being a reader.
