When asked to describe the students that I serve, a single specific characteristic does not come to mind. Instead, numerous and varying qualities that each student possesses, flood my thoughts. My students are kind, openhearted, genuine, unique, friendly, caring, studious, humorous and free-spirited to name just a few.
Each student that I serve is uniquely and wonderfully made, possessing various qualities that each of us share, learn and grow from continuously.
Lucky for us, not one day is the same as the day before, and we all eagerly await what is to come in the future.
My Project
Our school is a Title One school that provides academic and emotional support for a high percentage of students that are from low-income families. At times, these families depend on the school to feed their children at breakfast and lunch; there are times over the weekend that these children are unsure of where their next meal will come. This project will provide me with the opportunity to develop a food pantry for less privileged students who need assistance with filling growling bellies over the weekend or during holiday seasons.
This closet will give students the opportunity to "shop" and fulfill their needs for the upcoming break away from school.
In addition, students will learn how to prepare in advance for unforeseen circumstances as well as develop independent life skills.
