My students need books to extend our leveled library. Our library now does not contain any poetry or historical fiction books. These include a set of Exemplar Stories, books like "An American Army of Two" and "Lighthouse Family and Storm," plus a set of Exemplar Read Aloud Poetry.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help our leveled library grow because we are growing readers. As the readers in my 3rd grade classroom continue to enjoy literature and their reading levels are progressing, my leveled library is beginning to bore them. They need a larger selection. They need variety. They need a larger choice.
My students are eager to learn regardless of their economic backgrounds.
My students are 98% Hispanic. 98% of the students receive free/reduced rate lunch at our school. They come from homes where Spanish is their first language and English print is something they don't see until they start school in kindergarten. They come from homes where parents cannot help them with their reading or homework because of the language barrier. They also come from homes that teach them to be strong, successful, hardworking individuals. They do not waste a minute of class time. They love every minute of reading and writing. Read to Self time and "Book Shopping" from our classroom libraries are two of their favorite activities to do throughout the day.
My Project
My students need books to extend our leveled library. Our library now does not contain any poetry or historical fiction books. Buying these books will help my leveled classroom library grow. It will help my students continue to grow in their reading abilities and continue their progression of reading levels. Students need variety and choice when it comes to reading and my library is running out of options for my students. My students "Book Shop" once a week and use their books they shopped for with activities throughout the week. They work independently for 40 minutes a day with these books. For 20 minutes they read to self and for 20 minutes they write about their reading. They also work 20 minutes with a partner reading these leveled books. So, for 60 minutes a day, 5 days a week these students are reading and discussing and writing about these books. This gives me 1 hour to pull guided reading groups and the students need new literature to keep their interests in reading growing.
Donors please open up your hearts to the students in my 3rd grade classroom by donating to my project.
If you donate you will be helping students that come from a terrible economic situation, expand their knowledge. They will be able to see, read, and use a variety of books to enhance their reading capabilities. These students need variety. These students need new literature to keep their interests in reading grow. These students need you and your love for learning to help.
