Help me give my students the opportunity to collaboratively build structures as my current 50 plank set is not enough for my class of 30. My students look forward to their building time and the excitement is contagious.
I teach 3rd grade at a public school that encompasses learners from TK through 6th grade. We are centered in a small community that children are proud to be a part of. Many students ride their bikes, walk with their parents or grandparents to school.
Inventive, caring, risk-taking; the students I teach are passionate about the world they live in, how it works, and what they can do to make it a better place.
They utilize their classroom, worldly experiences, and community to grow these passions.
My third-grade students feel a strong sense of community with one another and embrace their classmates' strengths while supporting them when they are in need.
My Project
"Rome wasn't built in a day." What this quote should say, is, "Rome wasn't built in a day, and it took a lot of mistakes to figure out how to build the Coliseum." Students are organically learning this process themselves as they work together in teams building with Keva Structures. As students build, they analyze and make changes to their structures without feeling the failure that happens with academics.
These creative low-pressure experiences provide my students with the perfect time to grow their growth mindset, without even realize they're doing it.
With the current small box of Structures I have in my class, I have seen students work together and create amazing buildings together. They are always challenging one another and extremely PROUD of what they have created. With the items donated, students will be able to create even more challenging structures as they work and grow together.
