We have one of the most fun-loving, outgoing group of kids I've ever been around. They are caring, loving kids who come to school ready to learn. Our students are curious, asking questions about the world around them and anxious to learn more.
Our kids are extraordinary citizens!
We have a behavior standard that includes recognition for excellent behavior. Our students come into the office every day with their "Buff Tickets" given to them by staff as well as other students. We all celebrate what amazing kids we have here.
My Project
We are building an outdoor garden area where students can enjoy hands-on learning. To do that we need to build raised beds for the site. These raised beds will be an efficient way to quickly set up our garden. The liner will help keep the weeds down, which means more time for learning and less time weeding.
Our students need time to learn outside with a hands-on experience.
These days they spend so much time in their desks. They need to get outside and learn the lifelong skill of gardening. As an added bonus: the skills they learn in the garden tie in nicely with our science curriculum so we would be reinforcing concepts they are learning in the classroom.
Our school is next door to the senior citizen's center and we are planning a Gardening with Grandparents program. The retired folks from our community know a great deal about gardening and can pass that knowledge on to our students. We are also teaming up with the high school FFA program to help students learn about the FFA program and help those students become leaders. These partnerships will build a strong community bond and give our students an experience they will never forget.
